250, 400 or 600 euros – whatever your ticket cost.

EU Regulation 261/2004 scales compensation by distance: 250 euros up to 1,500 km, 400 euros up to 3,500 km, 600 euros beyond. The ticket price is irrelevant. If the airline proves extraordinary circumstances, such as severe weather, the claim falls away.

Useful: A 39-euro ticket can trigger 250 euros – and care such as meals and a hotel is owed on top.
