In this town, your front door decides which country you live in.

Baarle-Hertog is Belgian but lies entirely inside the Netherlands, made up of 22 exclaves that themselves contain seven Dutch counter-exclaves. The border runs through streets, cafés and living rooms. A house's nationality is determined by where its front door sits. The boundaries go back to medieval land deals between the Duke of Brabant and the Lord of Breda.

Useful: Borders are historical accidents, not natural lines; sometimes they run through the living room.
