The world's longest border is a 6-metre-wide clearing.
The border between Canada and the United States runs roughly 8,900 km, including 2,475 km with Alaska. It is the longest land border between two countries. Through forests it is kept open as a 6-metre-wide clearing called the Slash. Large stretches simply follow the 49th parallel, drawn on a drafting table.
Useful: Straight borders on a map almost always reveal negotiations rather than rivers or mountains.
