The 63-letter word a law deleted in 2013.
'Rindfleischetikettierungsüberwachungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz' (beef labelling supervision duties delegation law) was a real statute in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern from 1999 to 2013 and, at 63 letters, is German's best-known officially attested monster word. It was never in the Duden: German builds such chains because nouns compound freely, and only common compounds enter the dictionary. When the law was repealed, the word left official German.
Useful: Read a long German word from the back: the last part says what it is.
