How to guess German articles right most of the time.
Look at the ending. Always feminine: -ung, -heit, -keit, -schaft, -tät (die Zeitung, die Qualität), almost always -ion (die Nation, but der Spion). Always neuter: -chen, -lein; almost always -um, -ment (das Museum, but der Moment, der Irrtum). Mostly masculine: -er for people, -ling, -ismus (der Lehrer, der Frühling). Also: days, months, seasons are masculine, numerals used as nouns feminine.
Useful: Check the ending first, then guess: you'll beat chance by a wide margin.
