Language & WorldFact
'Actual' isn't 'aktuell' – but Spanish 'actual' is.
English 'actual' means real, not current. Spanish 'actual', like German 'aktuell', means current; 'actualmente' means at present. All three come from Latin 'actualis' (active, effective). English kept the direction 'real', while the Romance languages and German took the direction 'present-day'. English for aktuell: current, up to date.
Useful: 'The actual price' is the real price; 'el precio actual' is today's price.
