Everest would vanish into the ocean's deepest point.
The Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench lies about 10,900 metres below sea level. Drop Mount Everest (8,849 m) in and roughly two kilometres of water would still sit above its summit. Pressure there is around 1,100 atmospheres. Fewer people had been to the bottom than to the Moon, until submersibles began making regular dives from 2019.
Useful: Earth goes deeper down than it goes up; the ocean remains the less explored half.
