Nepal runs 45 minutes ahead of the rest.

Time zones don't have to be whole hours. Since 1986 Nepal has used UTC+5:45, aligned with the longitude of Mount Gaurishankar east of Kathmandu. Neighbouring India is on UTC+5:30. Other half-hour zones exist in Iran, Afghanistan and parts of Australia. New Zealand's Chatham Islands sit at UTC+12:45.

Useful: When calling Nepal or India, count the minutes, not just the hours.
