Language & WorldFact
One country simply moved the International Date Line.
The date line roughly follows the 180th meridian but takes big detours. Until 1994 Kiribati straddled it: the west had Monday while the east was still on Sunday. In 1995 the country shifted the line far east. Since then its Line Islands use UTC+14, the earliest time zone on Earth.
Useful: The date line is a convention, not geography: a state can move it by decree.
