Language & WorldFact
Only one national flag in the world isn't a rectangle.
Nepal's flag is two stacked pennants, red with a blue border, and the only one taller than it is wide. The current form was adopted on 16 December 1962. The moon and sun stand, among other things, for the cool highlands and hot lowlands. The constitution contains ruler-and-compass construction instructions; as a result the aspect ratio is irrational.
Useful: In flag quizzes, Nepal is the answer whenever "not rectangular" comes up.
