Switzerland has no capital city by law.

Bern has been the "federal city" since 28 November 1848, seat of parliament and government. But the constitution names no capital in the legal sense. Federal institutions are deliberately spread out: the Supreme Court sits in Lausanne, the Criminal Court in Bellinzona, the administrative and patent courts in St. Gallen. The aim: no concentration of power in one place.

Useful: Asked for Switzerland's capital, "Bern, though officially only the federal city" is the correct answer.
