Mind & EverydayFact

In 1993 Prentice and Miller surveyed students about campus drinking. Nearly all believed their peers were far more comfortable with heavy drinking than they were – in fact private attitudes were almost identical. Among men, personal attitudes drifted toward the assumed norm over the semester.
Useful: Before bending to a group norm, ask around: often everyone is silent for the same reason.
