"93 percent of communication is body language" – never what he meant.
Albert Mehrabian's 7, 38 and 55 percent come from two 1967 studies using single spoken words like "dear", female participants only, and only inconsistent messages. Mehrabian himself stresses the formula applies solely to feelings and attitudes, not communication in general.
Useful: When a presentation course advertises "93 percent", you now know the footnote.
