Mind & EverydayFact
You like things simply because you see them often.
Starting in 1968, Zajonc showed that people rate a symbol, face or word more positively the more often they see it – even without consciously remembering it. The mere-exposure effect is among the best-replicated findings in social psychology. It explains why neighbours, colleagues and jingles grow on you over time.
Useful: New music or new people often just need a few repetitions before you like them.
