The Chevrolet Nova didn't flop because "no va" means "doesn't go".

The story is told in every marketing class and it's false. The Nova sold well in Mexico and across Central and South America. Spanish speakers don't confuse "nova" with "no va" any more than you confuse "notable" with "not able". Mexico even had a successful petrol brand called Nova.

Useful: Check a good translation anecdote like any statistic: who sold what, when, and do the numbers agree?
