The world's longest city name starts with 'Krung Thep'.

Thais don't call their capital Bangkok but 'Krung Thep Maha Nakhon', City of Angels. The full ceremonial name runs to 168 letters in Latin transcription and is listed by Guinness as the world's longest place name. Many Thais know it by heart thanks to a 1989 rock song. 'Bangkok' was originally just a village on the Chao Phraya river.

Useful: Say 'Krung Thep' in Thailand and any taxi driver knows where you mean.
