Arabic runs right to left – its numbers run left to right.

Arabic and Hebrew are written right to left, yet multi-digit numbers inside them run left to right, with the highest digit on the left, just like ours. A sentence can therefore switch direction mid-line. Computers handle this with the Unicode Bidirectional Algorithm, which assigns each character a direction.

Useful: When copying Arabic text with numbers, check the digit order; this is where layouts break.
