Science & TechFact
The largest animal that ever lived is alive today.
Blue whales reach nearly 30 meters and up to around 190 tonnes, heavier than any known dinosaur. A blue whale heart weighs roughly 180 kilograms. Despite that bulk, they feed almost exclusively on krill, tiny crustaceans filtered from the water through baleen plates.
Useful: Size is cheap in water: buoyancy carries weight that would shatter bones on land.
