This crow builds hooks to get its lunch.

New Caledonian crows bend twigs into hooks and cut serrated probes from pandanus leaves to fish grubs out of wood. They are among the few animals that not only use tools but deliberately manufacture them. Techniques differ by region, and young birds pick them up by watching adults.

Useful: Toolmaking isn't unique to primates: it evolved independently several times.
