Mind & EverydayFact
Your first years were erased, not never recorded.
Most adults date their earliest memory to age three or four; before about 3.5 years almost nothing survives. Back in 1900 Henri and Henri found an average of three years and one month. Toddlers do remember at the time – it is later access that is lost.
Useful: When someone describes "memories" from their first year, they are usually other people's stories.
