Mind & EverydayFact
Why you recall a list's start and end, not its middle.
Learn a list of 15 words and you'll recall the first and last ones best. The first ones you had time to rehearse, so they're in long-term memory. The last ones are still fresh in working memory. The middle got neither. These are called the primacy and recency effects.
Useful: Put the key point of a presentation at the very start or the very end.
