Mind & EverydayMental model
Two circles that decide whether you wear yourself out.
Stephen Covey separates the circle of concern – everything on your mind – from the smaller circle of influence, where you can actually change things. Pour energy into the outer circle (weather, politics, other people’s behaviour) and you exhaust yourself uselessly. Work in the inner circle and you see results – and it grows. The Stoic Epictetus drew a similar line.
Useful: Whenever something annoys you, ask once: is this in my circle of influence? If not, let it go.
