Body & HealthHow it works
Check, call, compress – 100 to 120 times a minute.
If someone isn't breathing normally: call 112, then start chest compressions. Heel of the hand on the centre of the chest, arms straight, push 5–6 cm deep, 100–120 times a minute – the tempo of “Stayin' Alive”. Without help, survival after cardiac arrest drops about 10 % every minute. Compressions alone beat doing nothing.
Useful: The only thing you can do wrong is nothing.
