Four letters that save minutes in a stroke.

FAST: Face – ask them to smile, does one side droop? Arms – raise both arms, does one drift down? Speech – repeat a sentence, is it slurred? Time – any yes means call 112 now. In a stroke, about 1.9 million neurons die every minute. Treatments only work within the first hours.

Useful: Don't wait to see if it “gets better by itself” – the clock starts at symptom onset.
