Body & HealthFact
The organ that creates pain cannot feel any itself.
Your brain tissue has no pain receptors. That is why surgeons can keep patients awake during some operations: only scalp, skull and meninges are numbed, then the patient talks with the team while the brain is being worked on. This confirms that speech and movement stay intact. Headaches arise in the meninges, vessels and muscles, not in the brain.
Useful: Pain is a report about the body that the brain produces, not a feeling it has itself.
