Body & HealthFact
That green heart sign on the wall talks to you.
An AED (automated external defibrillator) is built for laypeople: open the lid and the device announces every step. It analyses on its own whether a shock makes sense – otherwise it won't deliver one. The shock resets a chaotically fibrillating heart so it beats in rhythm again. While it charges, chest compressions continue.
Useful: You can't accidentally shock anyone with an AED – the device decides.
