How the date of Easter is determined.
Easter falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon of spring, with spring fixed by the church at 21 March. That places it between 22 March and 25 April. The calculation is called the computus. Orthodox churches base it on the Julian calendar, which is why they often celebrate Easter one to five weeks later.
Useful: Pentecost, Ascension Day and Carnival all hang on the Easter date and move with it.
