Science & TechHow it works
How Bluetooth switches channels 1,600 times a second.
Bluetooth uses the 2.4 GHz band, the same as Wi-Fi and microwave ovens. To avoid drowning, it splits the band into 79 channels and hops between them in an agreed sequence 1,600 times per second. Channels with interference get dropped from the list. The name comes from Danish king Harald Bluetooth, who united tribes in the 10th century, as the standard unites devices.
Useful: Bluetooth dropouts next to a running microwave are normal: both use the same band.
