Mind & EverydayFact
You come up with far more ideas while walking.
In 2014 Oppezzo and Schwartz had people generate unusual uses for everyday objects while sitting or walking. Walking – on a treadmill or outdoors – raised the number of creative responses by around 60% on average. The effect lingered for a while after walking. On tasks with a single right answer, walkers actually did slightly worse.
Useful: Collect ideas on a walk, work them out at the desk.
