Good enough beats perfect, and makes you happier.
Herbert Simon coined the term satisficing in 1956: instead of hunting for the best option, you set a threshold in advance and take the first one that meets it. That saves time and energy. Barry Schwartz found that maximisers land objectively slightly better jobs but are less satisfied with them, because they keep thinking about the alternatives they passed up.
Useful: Set three criteria before you search and take the first option that meets all of them.
