One checkbox on a form decides organ donor rates.

In 2003 Johnson and Goldstein compared European countries. Where people must actively opt in, 4 to 28 percent were registered donors, Germany at about 12 percent. Where people must actively opt out, rates were above 85 percent, Austria at 99 percent. The default beats any persuasion campaign.
