Imagine the project has failed. Now explain why.
Gary Klein developed the pre-mortem: before starting, the team imagines a year has passed and the project has failed spectacularly. Everyone spends two minutes writing down what went wrong. Placing it in the past makes risks more concrete than asking "What could go wrong?", and quiet sceptics finally get to speak without looking like blockers.
Useful: Before any bigger undertaking, spend five minutes on a pre-mortem, alone or as a team.
