Money & WorkFact
You don't stay because it's good. You stay because leaving hurts.
Switching costs are everything a change of provider costs you: re-uploading photos, moving contacts, relearning an interface, cancelling contracts. Companies build them in deliberately, for instance through proprietary file formats or device ecosystems. The higher the switching costs, the more a provider can raise prices without losing customers.
Useful: Before entering an ecosystem, check how easily you can get out again.
