Money & WorkFact
One percent more shop demand becomes a factory crisis.
When a retailer orders slightly more, the wholesaler adds a safety buffer, the manufacturer adds one too, and so does the raw material supplier. At the end of the chain, demand swings many times harder than at the customer. The bullwhip effect explains full warehouses one year and empty shelves the next.
Useful: Supply shortages are often overreaction along the chain, not actual scarcity.
