Body & HealthMental model
Training progress happens during the break.
The supercompensation model describes four phases. Load: your performance capacity drops. Recovery: the body repairs and refills stores. Supercompensation: it builds beyond the old level, as a precaution against the next load. Return: without a new stimulus, the level sinks back after days. Training is the art of placing the next stimulus in phase three.
Useful: Training too early piles up fatigue; training too late gives away the gains.
