Iceland's phone book lists you under your first name.
Most Icelanders have no family name. The second name only tells whose child you are: Jón's son is Jónsson, his daughter Jónsdóttir. Since 1925 no new family names may be adopted. That is why the phone book is sorted by first name and even the prime minister is addressed by it. Since 2019 the gender-neutral ending -bur is allowed too.
Useful: Address Icelanders by their first name; "Mr Jónsson" sounds to them like "Mr Son-of-Jón".
