Language & WorldFact
Almost all the water on Earth is undrinkable.
Oceans cover about 71% of Earth's surface and hold roughly 97% of all its water. Most of the rest is locked in glaciers and ice sheets. Liquid fresh water in lakes, rivers and groundwater is a tiny fraction, under 1%. The Pacific alone is larger than all the land on Earth combined.
Useful: Fresh water is regionally scarce even though the planet looks blue.
