Science & TechFact
The metal spoon isn't colder than the wooden one.
Both sit at room temperature, about 20 degrees. But your skin doesn't measure temperature – it measures how quickly heat drains away. Aluminium conducts heat roughly 1,000 times better than wood, so it pulls warmth out of your finger in an instant. Wood leaves the heat where it is. What you feel when touching is heat flow, not degrees.
Useful: A thermometer, not your hand, tells you whether a room is really cold.
