Science & TechHow it works
Soap cleans because its molecules have two faces.
A soap molecule has a water-loving head and a long fat-loving tail. In water, the tails burrow into grease droplets while the heads point outward. This forms tiny spheres called micelles that wrap up the fat so it rinses away. Soap works the same way on viruses like coronavirus: it dissolves their fatty envelope.
Useful: Health agencies recommend 20 seconds of lathering so the soap reaches and loosens grease and germs in every crease of your skin.
