Enigma was first broken in Poland, not at Bletchley Park.
In 1932, Polish mathematician Marian Rejewski reconstructed the workings of the German Enigma using mathematics and intelligence material. His team built machines to find the daily settings. In July 1939, weeks before the war, Poland handed its results to the British and French. Alan Turing's work at Bletchley Park built on that foundation.
