Body & HealthFact
Your blood pH cannot be shifted by a menu.
The pH of extracellular fluid is held tightly between about 7.32 and 7.42. Three systems interlock: the bicarbonate buffer chemically, the lungs via CO2 exhalation within seconds, and the kidneys via bicarbonate excretion more slowly. Below that range is acidaemia, above it alkalaemia.
Useful: What the body regulates this tightly is rarely a lever for dietary promises.
