Body & HealthFact
The number in your weather app that matters more than temperature.
The UV index runs from 0 to 11+. From 3 upward the WHO recommends protection: shade, clothing, sunscreen. From 8 it's “very high” – normal in the Alps and the Mediterranean in summer. Clouds let through up to 80 % of UV; snow reflects up to 80 %, sand about 15 %. Temperature and UV barely correlate.
Useful: Shadow rule: if your shadow is shorter than you, UV is strong.
