Who "discovered" America – and for whom?

Eurocentrism means treating the West as the yardstick and centre of world history. Hegel read history as a path from Asia to Europe and declared other societies static. Maps play along: the Mercator projection makes Greenland look nearly as large as Africa, which is in fact about fourteen times bigger.

Useful: For any world history, ask from which vantage point it is being told.
