The first internet message was two letters long.

On 29 October 1969, student Charley Kline at UCLA typed "LOGIN" to a computer at the Stanford Research Institute, about 560 kilometres away. After "L" and "O" the system crashed. An hour later it worked. ARPANET had two nodes that day and four by the end of 1969. You are reading this over a descendant of that "LO".

Useful: Even the network that connected the world began with a crash.
